Under the Weather has the following program plan in effect.
- Children must be supervised at all times.
- The center will be licensed for 56 children, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children, ages 16 months to 12 years.
- The center will be open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Children can be dropped and picked up anytime throughout the day (6 a.m. to 6 p.m.). Rates are based on a daily rate, regardless of drop off or pick up times.
- The center’s philosophy is to take care of sick children with minor illnesses, so that their parents can be at work. The center will focus on quite activities and helping the child to rest, so that they will get well quickly. The center will provide a safe, clean and comfortable environment for the children.
- A staff person qualified as teacher, to ensure that it still meets the goals and objectives of the center will evaluate the plan in writing each year.
- The goal is to provide a safe, clean and health environment for children, so that they can become healthy and free from illness. This will be done by close supervision with a one to four ratio of caregiver to child. Additionally, the rooms and items will be disinfected daily and as needed. There will be cots for children to lay on and quiet activities for them to do.
- The toys, games, and art projects will be room specific, allowing the caregiver to get items as needed for children to play with. This way, items can be disinfected between each use decreasing the opportunity for children to pick up other illnesses. Additionally, the rooms and items will be disinfected daily and as needed.
- A variety of movies will be shown throughout the day. Books, puzzles and games will show cultural diversity. There will be a playset outside for children to play on, when they are feeling better. Children will be encouraged to play quietly with other children, (if the child isn’t contagious or has a serious illness).
- Outdoor activities will be available during the day for children that are feeling up to it. They will be available to go outside two times per day for up to an hour.
- There will be quite activities available for children to do while at the center from television, music, books, puzzles and board games, etc. Interest areas will include: creative arts and crafts, construction, dramatic or practical life activities, science, music, fine motor, large muscle, sensory stimulation activities.
- The plan will be available to parents for review, upon request.
